Slender Trefoil (Trifolium micranthum)(25/05/2021) Southbank Equestrian, Henfield (fields). The smallest of the trefoils, small enough to make it tricky to photograph. They are on relatively long stalks with only between 2-6 flowers in a cluster (Lesser Trefoil has 5-20).

Slender Trefoil (Trifolium micranthum)(25/05/2021) Southbank Equestrian, Henfield (fields). It's a really low-growing plant nestling in the grass, so very easy to miss.
Slender Trefoil (Trifolium micranthum)(25/05/2021) Southbank Equestrian, Henfield (fields). My little finger showing just how tiny this plant is - the smallest of the trefoils.
Slender Trefoil (Trifolium micranthum)(10/05/2020) Southbank Equestrian, Henfield (fields). Easily mistaken for Lesser Trefoil, but that is a less dainty species (and has more flowers in a cluster).

Slender Trefoil (Trifolium micranthum)(17/06/2021) Southbank Equestrian, Henfield (car park). You can see how tiny this is by the presence of the - itself small - Lesser Swine Cress (and there is also Knotgrass there too).

Slender Trefoil (Trifolium micranthum)(25/05/2021) Southbank Equestrian, Henfield (fields). Classic for this plant is the way the leaflets are very short-stalked and are hairless (Lesser has the terminal lobe on a longer stalk).
